Steel price in the market on July 7, 2025

Threaded steel: On July 7th, the average price of 20mm Grade III seismic resistant threaded steel in 31 major cities across the country was 3245 yuan/ton, a decrease of 18 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. At present, the market is still in the off-season of consumption, and the demand performance after the rise is average. Short term thread prices have been boosted by macro factors and driven by phased replenishment to achieve repair, but the fundamentals are still under pressure from the dual factors of accumulated inventory risk and demand disturbance.

Hot rolled coils: On July 7th, the average price of 4.75mm hot rolled coils in 24 major cities across the country was 3255 yuan/ton, a decrease of 11 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. The supply will decline slightly in the later stage, but it is expected that the magnitude will not be too large, and steel mills will still focus on production based on sales. In terms of demand, terminal demand will remain at a general level in the short term. Due to the traditional high temperature and rainy weather in July and August, which is the off-season for traditional steel demand, terminal consumption is not satisfactory.

Cold rolled coils: On July 7th, the average price of 1.0mm cold coils in 24 major cities across the country was 3709 yuan/ton, a decrease of 6 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. The hot coil futures market is weak and volatile, and the trading atmosphere in the spot market is lukewarm. The early price increase released some demand, and the trading volume was average throughout the day on the 7th.

Medium thick plate: On July 7th, the average price of 20mm ordinary plate in 24 major cities across the country was 3420 yuan/ton, a decrease of 5 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. From the perspective of the East China region, the resource allocation of steel mills remained high in July, and the resources of Dadonghai have gradually arrived. After Feida resumes production, the resources will be relatively stable.
